Abnormal

Goodmorning. I have alot of things on my GET DONE list today... Productivity is probably not on it. Case in point- I'm blogging right now.
But I was scanning through my photos that I edited last night and thought I'd post a few for ya'll to critique. Opinions are great, save the nasty stuff though- If you don't have anything good to say, don't freaking say anything at all. Mkay? Gooooood.

I'm not much a of morning person.. especially when I don't get to sleep until 0300. Mornings are a little rough. So sorry if my grumpiness shows.
And I havent had my coffee yet. . . . .

So these pictures. They've got a weird feel to them. Abnormal color. That's not usually me, but hey- they look cool. I changed up the temperature, added a few glows, and other little random stuff. It was one of those editing nights where you're just like " Oh I'll use this effect, and this one, throw that in there. . . . WOW. now add this effect."
Those editing sessions are the best.

Alright blogger freaks. Enough gab from me, I've got a Senior photo shoot sometime today so I've got to get my game on.
Enjoy your Saturday.

Just to fill your mind with useless information, today is National Eat a Cranberry Day.
Does cranberry juice count?

ISO Forgetfulness

Yo freaks. Here's another for the bloggers.
It almost looks fake. But its not. Oh no, I worked so hard for this shot.

Wait.. sorry I lied. This was a partial accident. Pretty sweet accident huh? I meant to get some light leaks but I didn't think it'd turn out to be so gorgeous.
I forget what ISO this was at. Or even the f-stop. Yes, I'm an amateur photographer and I know it. But I get by and sometimes get some great shots.

Insomnia is a great thing. I mean it has some downfalls, but then there's the perks. I have found beauty in this very late hour. Some extra zzz's might have been nice, but hey its the price you gots to pay.

Ok now I'm going. Go, go away. Read some books. Don't be a crazy hooligan.
Goodnight.

Norfolk, this one is on you

BAM.  2 posts in one night. I am just so skilled its ridiculous. Actually I just have a bad case of insomnia and this is a way of ignoring it. I'm going for 0100 right now. My mind is saying that it'll close up shop around 0300. Fantastic :|
Anywho. The pictures posted below are a few favorites from this past summer. Oh summer; I miss you so much. These are some city shots, which I rarely get cause I'm a redneck who loves the woods. But I think the first picture shown is on my top list. I love how its so cloudy around it and then in the building its blue. I just loved how it turned out.
The others are just random crap. I need to visit more cities. There's SO much to capture; I ran my camera battery dead and practically filled up a 16GB card. Legit.
I barely edited these. I like when I don't really have to touch anything up. That means I'm becoming a pro I guess;) Yeahhh right.

Anyways. Enjoy.
Mkay.
Bye.

I like this shot. It took me a bit to match up the timing of people walking by. But this dude walked by expertly. Gotcha.

Norfolk VA. I give the credit all to you Norfolk. You're beautiful, yes you are.

Upward Turns

Hello again. Lets focus. I have been a bad blogger... as usual. I guess its just not my thing. And I also always forget that I even have a blog. Sorry. But hey I'm back.
Life has took some turns since you've seen this face. Good turns... went through a few trials and succeeded. Well I mean I'm doing pretty darn good so I think I succeeded! I'm so happy with where I'm at right now... and looking forward to what's ahead. I'm trusting in God to show me where to go; cause He's awesome and knows best!
AND. I've gone through like 3 plans of going to a photography school/college/academy. They all fell through or I canceled them. Its a waste. Yo, if you've got the talent, all the info you need is online for free. Don't waste your money when you can learn on your own. Get your own style. Save your money for a better cause. Get it? Got it? Good.
Lets see. Anything else I need to share with you?
Oh yes. I've met him. Yes people... I think he is the one. And get this: He's got WINGS. No he's not an angel. Well not to you he's not.. To me, Yeahhhh:) But I'll leave you guessing on that one.
Thats it people. Go back to your lives now.
See you in the funny papers.

Pure Genius

Do you ever start a post or something and halfway through it, you just feel like quitting?
I have this picture of a bowl full of strawberries and I really like it. But for the life of me I couldn't find something to write about it.
So I'll leave you with this.................
.............. Never play leapfrog with a unicorn.
There, at least you learned something from this post. I feel successful.

Crazy Kid

Ever wonder what goes through a child's mind? If I could listen to any kids thoughts, it would be this girl. This is my niece Landis Cle. She is pretty much just like me. She is clumsy and is a blonde. But she is my best model in the family. She can pose but still look a bit natural. That is a lot compared to my other family members.
We were kind of bored the other night, so I looked at her and then the beautiful sunset and thought "Perfect match...." . So these are what we got... not that great but still, ISN'T SHE THE CUTEST?
Some of them are edited like crazy but I felt like doing that soooo deal with it.

Anywho. Thanks Cle cle for the wonderful pictures, tons of great laughs, and for being my sweet littlest niece.

You'll most likely see more photographs of this kid throughout my blog. Sorry, like I said, she's my best model. So once again, deal with it. Just jokinggggg. Not really.
Anywho.

With Angels

I miss my grandfather. Since today is Father's Day.... I've been thinking about him a lot all through this day. I mean I think about him quite often, but today more so. I just remember his smile... and his eyes shining so bright. It's been two years and it feels like he should still be here.... watching his 5 million grandkids grow up. Not 5 million for real, but there is a bunch of us. His morals and strong upbringing has had a great impact on my life, and I will eventually tell my children about their great-grandfather's simple time in this world. He was called the "Gentle Giant". But boy, his temper was fire hot. He cooled down in his later years, but my dad tells me all kinds of stories about Pap.  He was a cool miner all his life, meaning he knew what it meant to work. He did what he had to raise his boys right and keep food on the table.
Anywho. I love my Pap... Remembering him today.... He's free from his disease and is with Jesus and angels. But I can't wait to see his smiling face again.....

Now... go live your life to the fullest. Look around you... appreciate what you have now. Make every moment count.

Protect

This would be Caleb and Lexi. Let me just state that it took me awhile to get this photo. When I could get the one's attention, the other would get distracted. But hey! It comes with the job. Honestly, I love working with kids. They give me the best photographs... EVER.
I love the look on Caleb's face in this picture. They're both just so adorable. And really good sports too. It was a pretty long evening for these two little ones.
Eventually... When I have my own children, I think they will get a little annoyed of me. They will constantly be my models. I just love kids.

This Magic Moment

It's funny. You can think that you captured absolutely nothing and then there will be that one photo that's like "Hmmm that might have some potential". I was ready to just throw this whole album in the trash late last night. Then BAM. This happened somehow. SO not everything was terrible.

Paradise

It's that time. I'm starting to get excited about vacation. All the people, buildings, and the water. Mmmmmmm. Its like a photographer's paradise. Actually.. being a photographer, I HATE the beach. All that sand makes me so spastic. I'm seriously paranoid through the whole trip that I will ruin my precious camera. Let's just say traveling in general is a photographer's paradise?
I love walking the beach at night..... except last year. Oh boy. It was like crab mating season. You would feel tons crawl over your feet, which then you would proceed to start pulling out crazy dance moves. It was a sight to watch. Hopefully this year will be slightly more enjoyable.
These are just a few photos of the beach last year... mostly the water because its my favorite part. I especially like the last picture..... It just looks so open and free. It just makes me want to travel the world; my camera and I.

Mikala Shianne

This would be little me.
I thought I should probably show you the photographer of this blog. So now you know, I'm not a
freakasaurus. I'm human, complete with dreams and goals. Single and okay with it cause Jesus is my true Love. I guess He gave me the ambition to capture life through a lens. So as long as He lets me see the beauty, I'll keep on going with this dream of mine. I'm just an amateur... but willing to go pro. Just saying.

Fact: I am accident prone. Ask anyone that knows me. I've done everything from cracking my skull open on a ceramic pot to spraining my ankle as of 3 times now. I trip, I fall, and I laugh. It's all good.
I'm a lanky bean pole who loves music, photography, and watching the stars.

1 Timothy 4:12

A Thousand Words

Since I haven't taken any new pictures lately, I'll just post old ones. It helps actually because I notice things I could have done and keep it in the back of my mind for later use. I got pretty soaked when I took this. My Nikon is a buggah and fails at life most of the time. I sometime regret buying a Nikon... I envy the look of Canons. I'd switch but I'm already pretty used to my D7000.
I try to not just snap a photo cause its like "Oh jeez yes that's awesome". No. Non of that here.
I'm trying to take the quote "A picture's worth a thousand words" literally. There most likely has to be some meaning behind a photograph to make it feel real. You know... that really real feel?
Anyways yes... Like in this picture... Wait. It's been so long ago I can't remember what I saw in it. Maybe I didn't see anything... Sorry.. Bad illustration. I guess I was just working on aperture and shutter speed. Yes we'll leave it at that.
The edit job is messy, my apologies.

Not a Blogger

Blog. The word frustrates me. It reminds me of a journal type thing I had to have in high school. Not only did you have daily entrances but if you missed a day, you would have to double up.
But I guess a blog is different. So we will see huh? Yes.

Anyways. I'm Mikala. I have a photography addiction.
I'm not a pro... just wanting to be. Eventually I plan to make it there someday...

This sunrise was captured at the beautiful golf course I work at. Not to much editing... maybe a tad.
